Chris Bell is proudly from The East Side of San Antonio and begin his interest in performance at Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church and was further nurtured at The San Antonio Public Theater and the San Antonio School for the Performing Arts before graduating from The Texas Academy of Leadership in the Humanities. He completed his undergraduate work at Texas Christian University and Lamar University earning degrees in Dance (BS) and Geology (BS), and an (MFA) in Contemporary Dance from Case Western Reserve University.  He is also a proud 4-time alum of the American Dance Festival where he performed the works of Merce Cunningham, Hanya Holm, Twyla Tharp and Laura Dean. He currently makes work with Raja Feather Kelly & The Feath3r Theory and is a frequent collaborator with (and former choreographic assistant to) Mark Dendy. Recent Projects: Jelly's Last Jam (Choreographer, Long Wharf Theater), Teeth (Assoc. Choreographer), Eighty-Sixed (Associate Choreographer, Diversionary Theater), The Met Gala, and Mute Swan a collaboration with Theater in Quarantine written by Pulitzer-prize finalist Madeleine George. He is on faculty at The National Theater Institute at The Eugene O'Neill Center, works in the Education Dept. for Roundabout Theatre Co., and does teaching artist work for Marquis Studios, TADA! Youth Theaters and Marble Collegiate Church, where he is also the resident choreographer, a position he has served at the American Theater of Harlem and The Mather Dance Collective which brought people aged 8-80 of various skill level and socioeconomic status together to create and perform new dances.His company chrisbelldances (CBD) has presented work nationally and across NYC including evening length works at Dixon Place, Gibney Dance Center, and Green Space. CBD is an inaugural member of the Queensboro Dance Festival and recently wrapped up the 2022 tour, presenting "We’reGood", the company’s newest work, in community spaces and theaters across Queens County. CBD was the first dance company in residence at the Cherry Grove Community House and Theater in Cherry Grove, Fire Island. America’s oldest continuously operating LGBTQIA+ summer theater.
